Uber heads in new mapping direction with deCarta acquisition

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Uber Technologies is buying digital mapping specialist deCarta in a deal that may help the rapidly growing ride-hailing service lessen its dependence on navigation services supplied by Google and Apple.
