Users can now add an extra layer of security to prevent others from using their iMessage or FaceTime accounts. Since Apple updated its desktop operating system in 2014, consumers that own a Mac and an iPhone or iPad have been able to access their iMessages or make video calls across all of their devices, seamlessly. Although the new feature is optional, if activated it will mean that even if another person has successfully obtained your Apple ID and password, they will also need a randomly generated PIN number from an existing device in order to access either feature on a new iPhone, iPad or Mac.
