EMC cuts profit forecast as bookings fall at VMware unit

By Anya George Tharakan (Reuters) - Data storage equipment maker EMC Corp cut its full-year profit and revenue forecast, hurt by lower bookings at its VMware Inc unit and a strong dollar. Shares of EMC, which is under pressure from activist investor Paul Singer's Elliott Management Corp to spin off VMware, fell as much as 4 percent in early trading.
