Yesterday the world lost the man behind one of the most memorable movie villains of all time. HR Giger, the Swiss-born artist who designed the "Xenomorph" monster for the film Alien, passed away at age 74 after suffering injuries from a fall. While he'll be best remembered for visual effects in Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece, Giger was also a prolific surrealist painter and sculptor -- one of his large-format paintings was even the inspiration behind the famous Alien character.
