Gchat Is Down; Long Live Gchat

The bad news is that the Google app formerly known as Gchat is currently out of service. Google's Apps Status Dashboard confirms that Google+ Hangouts (known to all normal people as Gchat) is experiencing a "service disruption." We contacted Google to get more details.
