Astronomers in Antarctica find the first neutrino from outside our solar system

Astronomers in Antarctica find the first neutrino from outside our solar system Rather than studying light, researchers have for the first time been able to study a neutrino from outside of our solar system. "The era of neutrino astronomy has begun." Though neutrinos have been known about for some time, until now researchers were only able to detect ones from within our own solar system. "We see neutrinos every six minutes, but they are of [little] interest … to us," says Francis Halzen, principal investigator at the observatory that detected the particles.
